Carlisle is an established, affordable suburb sitting just south of Victoria Park and within easy reach of the CBD via train. Locals describe it as a suburb of contrasts: decent value for money and handy access to Vic Park's dining strip, but residents note persistent crime and antisocial behaviour as ongoing frustrations. People say it has a gritty edge, with pockets of improvement including a growing creative scene around Oats Street, though safety concerns remain a common talking point.
Houses here have a median value of $960k and rent of $780/week, 6% below the Perth metro median. The commute to Perth CBD is a short 15-minute drive by car or 32 minutes by transit, and most residents drive (64%). Crime rates are higher than average, and the safety score of 24/100 falls 28 points below the metro mean of 52. The population has a median age of 36 and earns $1,766/week per household.
“Long time resident of Carlisle, crime has always has it's ebbs and flow like any suburb. Lately it's become a joke, nearly every day it's people tressspassing on my property or big fights and antisocial behaviour outside of Olivers Upholstry or down the alley way. When you confront them they threaten, the cops seem to do nothing about the public housing on Harris st and it continues.”— 63 upvotes in community discussion
